Conan gets nice DX10 biceps

Well-rendered chesticles ahoy

DX10-MMO-FEST Age of Conan is due out at the end of May, and the developers have been ramping up anticipation by releasing a batch of screen-shots showing the game running under DX10 in Vista - and by gum, they don't look half bad.

The game requires 2GB of RAM, Geforce 7900 GTX and a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo in order to run at a decent pace in DX10, but the results do seem worth it. In particular, the cut-scenes being touted have that 'film-like' animation quality that games have been promising ever since the days of the leafblower-esque 5800.

The in-game shots look like they have some rather swanky sun and water efects, and we're certainly big fans of massive ogre monsters. Perhaps the best new pics, however, are of the concept art which shows a rather well-endowed Barbarian girl giving it the full monty whilst modelling the latest in stabbing hardware. It's no wonder the game is slated for an 18+ rating upon release.

Conan looks set to take the crown of best-looking MMO from Lord of the Rings Online, but can it possibly ramp up the same level of participation seen from the market leader, World of Warcraft? Something tells us not, but we have been wrong in the past. Occasionally. µ

wut?

" The game requires 2GB of RAM, Geforce 7900 GTX and a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo in order to run at a decent pace in DX10,"

That setup wouldn't run at all in DX10, the 7 series didn't magically start running DX10, did they?

DX10 on a G70? Programmers are getting cleverer these days.

DX 10 in Geforce 7900?

The game requires 2GB of RAM, Geforce 7900 GTX and a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo in order to run at a decent pace in DX10 --> I don't think so....DX 10 need at least Geforce 8100 (joke, just Geforce 8 series I mean).....

7900GTX for a DirectX 10 game?

I did not think it was possible for a Geforce 7900 GTX to run in DX10. Is this true, or just a mistake?

7900GTX in order to run at a decent pace in DX10!?!?!?!

7900 = no DX10

You may have a typo in the minimun specs list, since a 7900 generation vid card can´t do DX10 graphics.

You probably meant an 8800 or 9800GTX.

Great site, great news, great IT gossip.
Keep it up.

Bye from Bolivia.

Game Spec

That spec will barely run Fista, does that mean that released specification is on top of the spec that Fista needs.

It should read, 4GB RAM, Quad Core 2.4GHz, 9800 class in SLI mode.

Andy

PS: Where is the DX10 hack for a decent OS (XP).
