Spammers prey on the financially confused

FTC issues a warning

A WARNING was issued yesterday by the Federal Trade Commission advising people of fake emails tied to recent bank mergers.

Not everyone is losing out at this tough economic time - online scammers are having a whale of a time confusing customers into giving up valuable personal details.

The FTC pushed the red button to stop people from blindly giving up personal information to those who claim they are from a recently merged bank, savings, loan or mortgage company as they may well be from scam artists after account numbers and passwords in order to commit their daily crimes.

This may seem like an obvious ploy - and indeed phishing scams just like this have been around for years - yet with the current economic state people don't have their wits about them, and are easily lured into this false sense of security.

The FTC has a guide on how not to fall for this kind of trickery, and indeed how to recognise it. µ

only ourselves to blame

if we had to pay for mass email, most spam would disappear. ie. if you get X(50?) free emails per day plus y(5?)p for every one after that then they cant email you in first place. but no i hear you cry i dont want to pay. do you really send more than 50 emails per day? also if you are "tricked" into giving out your account details - that should void any cover policy your bank has. natural selection after all

5p?

@greig

It doesn't have to be 5p, it could be a fraction of a penny. These guys send MILLIONS of these emails every day. Pedipaws anyone?

Shoot the stupid people

Like the title says. If there were no stupid people scammers wouid stop,

But I don't think that will happen.

So, why not educate the stupid people?

I think people in high scool should be taught this in class, and I think people should be mailed from the govenment concerning this.

It is in the governments for people to not get scammed as it helps the economy, also more taxes are collected from money spent. Money going to scammers do not help the economy much as it could be spent on terorists, under the table stuff etc as the scammer doesn't want to be caught for having too much money more then he can explain.

So, THe govenment sends tax info to people, so why not include an anti scam paper?

And for people in school, they should be told to look after and educate other people in there house and friends.

Until this happens, spamming will only get woarse as they know every 1/1000 emails is a potential victim.

If there is warnings on the internet, well you need some smarts to find the warnings, atleast people are smart enought to read mail or watch tv, so that is how people should be warned.

The Bank Job

I believe banks owe a great debt to their clients. Infact, a bank is the single most powerful financial house, they tell you what your loan is going to be and what petty amount you shall receive on your savings. So, the honest thing to do would be that a bank manager sets up dummy accounts and take these risky offers on our behalf. Once the crook has been found, banks should immediately hand them over to the cops. I am sure this is already possible, Instead banks wants to see our downfall. At the end of the day, banks don't depend on us. Instead we depend on them. Now it has come to the point where banks will shove dirty in your face, since there is too many of us and we don't questions anything put forth by new bank policy. What pissed me the most is bank charges, they are over rated. So, if you wanna continue such madness please take spammer risks on our behalf.

Stupidity Is Greed And Dumbness Is Fear

The reason humans have two main opinions within themselves is to allow for balance and the aim of balance is to gain stability which then hopefully leads onto self-valution/introspection. This is almost an impossile task because stupidity is also delusion and fear is merely illusion. So, why have impossibilities ? Because the goal is the highest of attainments [not to be confused with achievements] – the realising of one’s truth/reality. The evolution from a partial being to a full human being.

That which is real, an absolute, always have its potential and its kinetic synchonised as one and this truth is then reflected and thence refracted into the two human “opinions” [due to the “top prism”] to offer those who are in touch with their intelligence [which is not an ownership/possession issue but one of reflection/introspection], an insight as to the reason for their existence. To evolve, for Evolution is construction and those who refuses to do so are then devolved [into mere principles and not into lower orders within Nature]. Who say so or dares to say so? Our own two “opinions” of femininity & masculinity in all their forms and aspects like illnesses, say. The minute a human opiniates, he is either thrown into the instabilty of the centrifuge/abandonment or sucked into the over-stability of the centripetal/control.

Infin ity, as in the reflection of an entity [deludedly & illusorily] placed between two parallely-positioned mirrors [of a divided potential/knowledge and its kinetic/power] or the division of an absolute/a-source by the 3 human minds/the-sinks, cannot be resolved even though they can be grossly proven as well as the unproven as in gazing at the stars/”heavens”, is not a matter for our “opinions” but a matter for Intelligence – and not our intelligence for there is no such thing – our consciousness and thence awareness of where we are really placed. Within our pros & cons.

As we all know, there are enough pros & cons “out there” to neutralise any attempt at changing the envelope of human opinions even though some might succeed, like a nuclear fallout or the expansion of some “empire”. They will not and belief-denial is not the point. To gain an insight into reality does not require effort but morality and morality is inherent in all humans. Having opinions is like deliberately creating problems and therefter assuming the position of a saviour or a worshipper. Just look at all this nonsense about monetary exchange/credit [another word for greed & fear] and the subsequent flaming of the “news”/consequences. Are people really that stupid or dumb? Especially when you feel-responsible/saviour-like/are-thief-like or is despondent/victim-like for all human problems are merely the reflection of our inherent instability caused by having two main opinions.

Within the limits of the perception of Infinity [ie before The Sun bows out], nothing has changed even when all the eons of The Past have been accounted for through the constuctiveness of Evolution and the destructiveness of Devolution. We cannot change anything when we are moving in a circle no matter how we claim that we are advancing. This is because we are always for or against and since there are enough differing opinions, humans are, in reality, moving in a circle whilst not forgetting that all that we have seen so far indicate that helical motion is what we should be doing. Relinquishing our opinions and start witnessing, an impossible task unless we allow Intelligence/Living-Force a voice. And not “news”/opinions/dead-principles.

At the final stage of Evolution, humans are offered the freedom to be enslaved by our abandonments of circular activities or be freed by choosing the route of morality and morality is not a religious or goody-2-shoe issue. It is one of real intelligence. Seen anything so far that one can say with certainty that is remotely intelligent? Of constant stupidity and dumbness, excused as ignorance, etc, of course. To push that red “Destroy All” button requires nothing more than stupidity or dumbness and the button-pusher will be the last to realise so. Why? Because he has become a mere principle. The power that has no truth or vice-versa.

Sounds about right

I suppose I'd target those people too, as they're generally pretty stupid and gullible to be in that situation to begin with.
