Microsoft confirms Zune details

Most of it already leaked
Tuesday, 9 September 2008, 06:25

MICROSOFT HAS CONFIRMED details of the already leaked new range of Zune MP3 players.

The new hard drive-based model will be expanded to 120GB and the flash-based player to 16GB.

Zune owners will now be able to use the device's built-in Wi-Fi to download songs, something that Microsoft has nicked from the Apple's Ipod.

Zune will suggest new songs based on what you are already listening to. Microsoft has also built some new Zune "channels" which have been set up under themes like "work-out" music.

There are two games, Hexic and Texas Hold 'em and support for audio books in the Audible format.

Microsoft plans to charge $249 for the 120GB model, $199 for the 16GB model and $149 for the 8GB flash model. Older Zunes will have their price cut. ยต

zune games

Zune games are available for download already in XNA format. I've been using them on my old 30 gig for several months now. None of the features really compare much to the iPod touch now, but it's good competition for all of us.

They should include a decent FM transmitter

for use in car/home stereo. Then would make it stand out from the crowd. Those FMs that attach are a bit hit and miss, and need charging seperately. Combine it into a single device and it might make it sell better.
