Run Vista on your Playstation 3

Console round-up Iphone more powerful than DS, PSP combined
Wednesday, 6 August 2008, 16:33

FORGET THE DS and PSP, Jon Carmack reckons the Iphone is more powerful than both.

In fact he thinks the device is more powerful than a DS and PSP combined, according to Appleinsider.

Xbox 360
The previously mentioned Xbox 360 price-cut appears to be a certainty after two stock-control screen-shots were taken at various different US outlets.

One is at Vgchartz and the other via Xbox-scene.com.

You might be wanting to wait until the Batman Dark Knight SKU comes out, viewable here.

Japan might be waiting though - there appears to be an Xbox 360 shortage in the far east.

Always fancied a dual shock on your 360? Ben Heck has done it again.

PS3/PSP
If you really wanted to ruin your Playstation 3, you could install Microsoft's newest OS turd, Vista.

You can see it running, very slowly, at Gizmodo.

Also at Gizmodo, is a report suggesting that more problems have occurred in the most recent 2.42 firmware for the PS3.

Wii/DS
Eweek is suggesting, that while Sony and Microsoft head towards downloadable-centric non-media consoles, Nintendo is investing in holographic storage.

T3 has the low-down on the new GTA for the Nintendo DS.

Can't wait for the DVD playing Wii, and fancy a DVD playing NES? Check out Crunchgear.

Forget the NES mods, get your portable SNES here. ยต

professional

talk about professionalism, bashing an independent company's software under the hat of the press. what happened to neutral media? I will laugh when people want to buy a new computer in the era where 4 gig is the RAM standard and they whine because they can't get their hands on 64-bit windows XP anymore. not to mention being stuck with DirectX 9, in a couple of years all new games will require higher.

Laugh away Johnny...

I've got a newish pc. Core 2 duo, 4 gigs of ram, 250 Gb sata drive, 3850 3d card. I finally decided to try Vista a few weeks ago, even though I'm well aware of all the negative aspects. After two days, I uninstalled it and went back to XP. When running XP, I can download torrents and only be using 0 - 3% of my cpu's. Under Vista, when doing NOTHING, the usage rate is 20-30% and it swings about randomly. That's a lot of lost capacity. And for what? DirectX 10 was the only thing that could have rescued Vista and they screwed it up by breaking compatibility with 10.1. How many developers looked hard at consoles after that? I'm sure other people will laugh at you for thinking that one day you'll be unable to get windows XP64 bit. You have heard of torrents, right?
